Thrift and Micro Finance Programme
The organization believes that the economic status and development of women and children critically depends on the savings and productive investment of the poor households. The concept of SHGs as an effective instrument to alleviate the problems of poverty and employment was conceived by RASS. It has now grown to become a convergent point for economically disadvantaged women who lack access to credit and other community sources. RASS now operates microfinance activities in the operational area of Tamil Nadu under the programme of “RASS Mahila Vikas” through 586 Self Help Groups in Tamil Nadu with participation of 7805 beneficiary women covering138 villages in the area of operation.
Aged Welfare Programme
For the aged persons who have been rendered homeless, RASS is providing residential care by establishing homes. Each home provides accommodation, food, clothing, medical facilities and recreation for about 25 persons. With the support of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India one such home is established at Tiruttani. It is a home outside home and all the services are provided at free of cost. So far 212 deserved have been benefitted under the programme.
Services for the Differently Abled Children
The differently able children are a neglected lot in the rural communities as they are perceived as a burden to the family. RASS, realizing the complex nature of problems of the disabled children, has undertaken the task of initiating a programme for the integration of the disabled children in the mainstream. Thus, this special programme Vikas Vihar was born at Tituttani in 2008. The center caters to 43 special children and so far 82 special children benefited from the project. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India is extending support to this center.
Family Welfare Center
The objective of the Family Counseling Centre (FCC) is to deal with life’s challenges, support children and families, end the cycle of violence, assist people with special needs, provide counseling services to the needy people.
Under the FCC, counseling, referral and rehabilitative services are provided to the needy particularly to women victims who are in moral danger within the family or society at large including those affected by disputes, marital discord or maladjustment is provided.
The centre has been established in 2014 by M/S MAHILA VIAKAS an associated organization of RASS and supported by Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi.
