ABOUT US

 

Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) is a premier Social Service and Research Development Organization established in 1981 with the objective to serve the needy impoverished communities in the most backward regions irrespective caste, creed and religion.

Initially, RASS has started its activities in remote areas of Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh. With these inroads, RASS gained wide first-hand experience to expand its presence to other such distanced parts of Tamil Nadu, and Odisha States.

 

VISION


RASS visualizes a society where all human beings live with dignity. RASS believes that every human being has inalienable rights, guaranteed by the Constitution of India and the International Covenants. RASS envisions itself as a peoples’ initiative for protection of basic and inalienable human rights with specific emphasis on - women, children, the elderly, the challenged and the poor and the needy.
 

 

MISSION


RASS works with people whose lives are plagued by poverty, illiteracy, ill-health and many social, economic and cultural issues. RASS is committed to making its various initiatives socially, financially and environmentally sustainable through good governance and peoples’ participation.
 

RASS encourages a social work culture where all the concerned work in partnership with the community, like-minded civil society organizations, government institutions and private sector.
 

RASS has been engaged in efforts in shaping the organization as a resource and nodal agency so as to establish connecting links among various stakeholders, such as - CSOs, Government, CBOs and Donors. Needless to state, lobbying and advocacy are the golden threads that run through its efforts in this direction. 


OBJECTIVES

  • Organization of people – promoting community based organizations

  • Capacity building to empower people, particularly women, children and the vulnerable sections, to protect their legitimate rights

  • Mobilizing peoples’ power and to initiate action against poverty through peoples’ participation and governance

  • Networking with individuals, organizations and institutions at the local, regional, national and international levels to promote human development with equity

  • Economic empowerment of poor families through collective action

  • Acting as a link between the Governmental and the people

  • Promoting the value of sustainable development, environment friendly living conditions by preservation of natural resources and safe environment

  • Functioning as a resource centre and nodal agency for NGOs, CBOs and Pls

  • Working for the protection of the rights based on human dignity, freedom and security of people with disabilities – the mentally retarded the physically handicapped, the HIV /AIDS affected, the destitute and the deserted

  • Advocacy, lobbying through IEC.
