Integrated Crop Management in Paddy (ICM)

Since 2019 RASS’s KVK is implementing ‘Demonstrations on Integrated Crop Management in Paddy’ with the support of ICAR-lndian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad under the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) in different mandals of Chittoor district with an objective of improving productivity. Implemented the project during rabi 2019-20 at Gundrajukuppam village, Nagari mandal, Racharla village, Varadaiahpalem mandal, and Keelagaram village, Narayanavanam mandal in 180 farmers’ fields and during rabi 2020-21 at Agaram, Magalagiri kandriga and Athur villages, Nindra mandal in 150 farmers fields.

In the project critical inputs like seed, seed treatment chemical, herbicide, greenmanure seed, pheromone traps, zinc sulphate and need based plant protections chemicals were supplied to farmers. Battery sprayers and power sprayers were also supplied to farmers on community basis for agricultural operations like pesticide spraying. About 15-30%increase in yield was recorded in the demonstrations when compared to farmes practice. A custom hiring center with battery sprayers, power sprayers, drum seeders, rotovator and tarpaulins was also established at Athur village Nindra mandal for utilizing the same by the farmers on minimal rental basis.
